Insights from a Pitching 101 Masterclass with Anshita Mehrotra, Founder of Fix My Curls
How do you sell your idea to the world in under two minutes? At Tetr College of Business, our students didn’t just ponder this question - they learned how to answer it from someone who’s done it on some of the world’s biggest stages.
In a masterclass led by Anshita Mehrotra, Founder of Fix My Curls and a Forbes 30 Under 30 honoree, students were introduced to the art of the pitch - a critical skill for every aspiring entrepreneur. Titled “Sell Your Idea to Anyone: Pitching 101”, the session explored what makes a pitch memorable, persuasive, and ultimately successful.
Anshita started with a powerful mantra: “All you need is 120 seconds of courage.” Whether you’re trying to get a customer to click “buy” or convincing an investor to believe in your vision, you often get just a sliver of their time. That’s where the elevator pitch comes in.
But, as Anshita explained, not all pitches are created equal. A customer wants to know how your product solves their problem now. An investor wants to know why your solution matters in the long run - what the market opportunity is, who your competitors are, and what makes your idea different. Learning to tailor your pitch to the audience is not just smart - it’s essential.
One of the most resonant insights from the session was the power of storytelling. Anshita walked the students through her own award-winning pitch—a blend of personal experience, emotional resonance, and business clarity that ultimately landed her on Forbes 30 Under 30.
She emphasized the importance of including a personal anecdote—why you started this business, what moment sparked the idea, and why it matters to you. Investors want to believe in the founder just as much as the product. Why should they trust you to lead this?
For customers, on the other hand, it's about them—their needs, their challenges, their transformation. “Introduce the problem, show them the solution, and if you can, deliver immediate results,” she said.
True to the Tetr way, the masterclass wasn’t just about listening—it was about doing. Students participated in a hands-on activity where they pitched their business idea to a peer acting as an investor. The twist? They had just 120 seconds.
Four students were selected to share their pitches with the room, receiving real-time feedback from Anshita herself. From personal stories to attention-grabbing hooks, every pitch reflected how much thought and creativity went into those two minutes.
The session left students with more than just tips—it left them with confidence. The kind that says, “I can walk into a room, tell my story, and leave an impression.” Because at Tetr, we don’t just teach business—we prepare you to build it, pitch it, and live it.
