Overview

Understanding the Tetr Trial

The Tetr Trial is a gamified, multi-section online assessment that is initiated after you complete your application form. It is conducted in a single uninterrupted sitting and lasts 75 minutes for undergraduate applicants and 65 minutes for postgraduate applicants.

The Trial is designed to evaluate how applicants think, make decisions, and respond to real-time scenarios across multiple formats, including interactive tasks, analytical questions, and a video-based response.

If the application form captures your background, experiences, and intent, the Tetr Trial is where your cognitive approach comes into focus.

A Trial Designed for Learning by Doing

Rather than testing isolated skills, the Trial mirrors how learning happens at Tetr. Students are regularly placed in unfamiliar situations, required to analyse information quickly, adapt to changing constraints, and communicate their reasoning clearly. The structure of the Trial reflects this reality.

There are no pauses, resets, or retries once the Trial begins. This is intentional. The assessment values focus, mental stamina, and structured thinking over speed or polished performance.

Think of the Trial not as an exam, but as a simulation of how you will think and operate.

What each section evaluates and how to prepare

Preparation for the Tetr Trial is about mindset, not memorisation.

Familiarise yourself with the structure of the Trial and the types of thinking it requires. Expect unfamiliar questions and view them as part of the experience rather than obstacles. Focus on staying present, thinking clearly, and maintaining consistency across sections.

Trying to guess what the “right” answer is often works against candidates. The Trial is designed to reward authenticity, logical reasoning, and adaptability.

Practice With the Mock Tetr Trial

To help applicants prepare more confidently, Tetr offers the opportunity to attempt a Mock Tetr Trial.

This mock version is approximately half the duration of the actual Trial and is designed to familiarize you with the format, pacing, and flow of the experience. It is not scored and does not impact your application.

How to attempt the Mock Tetr Trial

  • Visit the programme page or the Apply Now page and locate the link to register for the Mock Tetr Trial.
  • Complete the short registration form by entering your basic details.
  • Access and attempt the Mock Trial to understand the structure and experience of the actual assessment.

Completing the mock Trial can help you calibrate your pacing, reduce uncertainty, and approach the main Tetr Trial with greater confidence and clarity.

A Final Note Before You Begin

Tetr Trial is not designed to eliminate candidates. It is designed to reveal potential.

If you approach it with focus, honesty, and an open mind, it becomes less about performance and more about expression. Trust your thinking, stay present, and let the Trial do what it is meant to do: show who you are when faced with the unfamiliar.

Good luck!
